HYSTM [his-tuh m] is the New York-based art tag team of Keith Pine and Rich Zitterman. Working from their studio in Chinatown, they begin each piece inspired by ideas and visuals that cut through the noise of our culture: freeze frames from television, found images, and surreal glimpses of the modern world. The premise is reassembled into a visual collage that fragments and masquerades what is in plain sight.

Every piece is a disguise: the product of several other paintings, each contained within the final work. Often unrecognizable and always of dubious authorship and questionable meaning, the result is a complex and powerful cultural ransom note.
